Munros offering a more approachable introduction to bigger mountain days — while still requiring the preparation and respect any mountain deserves.
Approachable, not easy.
Every Munro is a mountain day. Distance, ascent, terrain, weather and conditions can turn even a comparatively straightforward route into a serious undertaking.
When we describe a Munro as more accessible, we mean comparatively approachable within Scotland’s higher hills: perhaps a clearer route, less technical terrain or a steadier ascent that offers a natural place to begin or build experience.
It doesn’t mean suitable for everyone, wheelchair accessible or suitable in all conditions. Fitness, navigation, appropriate clothing and equipment, weather awareness and knowing when to turn back remain part of the day.
